All Asian Independent Film Festival
The All Asian Independent Film Festival was launched to support independent filmmakers in Asia. The idea is to create a festival where unique ideas can thrive. To tell the stories that come deep within the heart, and to inspire the audiences.
The sister film festival of the All Asian Independent Film Festival is the European Independent Film Festival, which has been held in Paris in the last 14 years.
Becoming a finalist in the festival means earning the ability to create rock solid reputation in Europe’s independent film festivals, while bridging and networking with Asia’s independent filmmakers.
Tombstone Pillow is about a heartless heiress, forced on the run, who meets a poor graveyard girl who teaches her life’s true riches.
The slums in the Manila North Cemetery are so overcrowded and in bad condition that 6,000 people decided they would rather live among the dead.
The cemetery dwellers sleep, eat, go to school and perform all of the other functions of living in and around tombs – they literally use tombstones for pillows.
The film is a collaboration between multi-award-winning directors Daniel Lir and Bayou Bennett, with lead actress and Executive Producer Lourdes Duque Baron, Cinematographer Mycko David, and Writer Fraser Scott.
Tombstone Pillow won Best Short Drama at the ICP Entertainment Short Film Series, became an official finalist for New York City Independent Film Festival, NYCIFF Festival, ARFF Amsterdam Around Internal Film Festival, Global Short Film Award Cannes and picked as an official finalist for The Global Impact Film Festival (GIDC) in Washington D.C.
Tombstone Pillow was also recently featured at the Morehouse College Humans Rights Film Festival, and won Best Short, Best Cinematography, Best Original Idea & Best Message at the 2020 Top Indie Film Awards and will be screened in Japan.
The film also won the Best Inspirational film at the Prague International Monthly Film Festival 2020.
